Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm

Guess. What. I. Finally. Found.
I was walking through Wal-Mart the other night at 12:30 AM... because that's when a pro goes grocery shopping/oops-I-bought-more-makeup shopping.
Also, I am guilty of being a night owl.
Back to my story: I decided to give the beauty section a little visit (my mistake... couldn't help myself) and out of the corner of my eye when I was looking at some Maybelline mascaras, I saw the new line of Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms. Being me, I almost screamed out of excitement.
I know that it doesn't sound like it should be this exciting, but I've been seeing these via my favourite Instagram accounts for weeks. And I wanted them... oh, so badly, to see what the hype was all about.
Honestly, I didn't know if our Wal-Mart was ever going to get them... you know how Oklahoma is. Approximately ten fashionable minutes late to everything. ;)
But they did.

I admit to going a little cray-cray and picking up all nine shades.
Isn't the packaging adorable? They're so cute and chubby... Haha.

Moving on, I think that the concept of these is just pretty cool. I mean, come on. Lip balm + gloss?! Awesome.
As I have already said, there are nine shades to this collection that range from nudes to pinks to even a coral and an orange.
L to R: Truffle Kiss, Blooming Balm, Apricot Pucker, Cantaloupe, Pink Pout, Rosy Lipped, Just Plum, Lilac Love, and Apple a Day
Same order top to bottom.
They have a doe-foot applicator (which is pretty standard to a lot of different lip glosses). The formula comes out kind of thick on the applicator.
Same order top to bottom.
By my swatches, you will probably be able to tell that these are sheer, yet somewhat buildable. They have a nice consistency. I think that all of the colours are absolutely beautiful. I think what they were trying to do was incorporate a log of pigmentation into a balm as a long-lasting gloss, as the name may suggest.
These are be worn alone for a more subtle look, or even over a lipstain or a lipstick.

About the lasting power of these: When I woke up, I put on one of these balm glosses and they didn't appear to be sticky. After a couple of hours with minor eating and drinking, the colour wore off, but I still felt the effects of the hydration of it on my lips.

Overall, these have nice pigmentation, whether subtle or builded up a little bit. They hydrate pretty well like a balm and they have decent lasting-power. They come in really nice colours and they're gorgeous.

If you haven't picked any of these up, I highly recommend them.
I think these will be perfect for summer. What do you think?

Hope you enjoyed this post, beauties!
Have a blessed day! xox

  1. Wow, you have all of them! Great swatches.

I like how you swatched all of them at once. It was very helpful for me in choosing which shades I like.

    Thank you!! ^^
