Hey, guys! This is
another episode of “What will Amber review toay?!” Well, if you can’t tell by
the name, the answer to that question issssss…
(is the suspense
killing you yet?)
The Black Radiance
8-pan eyeshadow palettes!
I have all three of
the palettes to review for you today that I’ve been testing out a bit over the
past couple of weeks.
Backstory (as
always): I was down in Texas in a Walmart that I’d never been to before and
BAM, I see this brand. What reallu struck my interest about it was the fact
that these palettes look almost exactly
the same as the Wet n Wild Color Icon 8-pan palettes. (Does anyone know if this
brand is affiliated with WNW?) So, I’m not going to lie… I was curious if the
quality of these would be just as good as the Wet n Wild ones, because as we
know, WNW eyeshadows are the bomb.com. What I’ve found out is that I am NOT
in any way disappointed with this brand or these palettes.
So, now we’re going
to get into the fun part where I blab on and on about pretty things about these beautiful palettes.
The first palette
that I am going to show you is called Urban Jungle.
This is a collection
of browns, greens, and your occasional yellow.
Starting with the
left side of the palette, we have a nice light golden shade for the browbone,
an olive green shade for the eyelid, a darker brown/green shade for the crease,
and a typical brown shade for the accent.
On the right side, we have a canary
yellow shade for the browbone, a bronze shade for the eyelid, a deep green shade
for the crease, and a deep mahogany/brown-red shade for the accent. *
All in all, the
finishes are quite pearly excluding the two bottom shades on the right side
which are PACKED with shimmer.
The second palette is
called Posh Plums.
It is a great collection
of purples in a range of light and dark. It also includes two black shades.
Starting again with the
left side (palette), we have a light purple (if it had a matching nail polish, I’d like
to think it would be Sinful Colours Purple Diamonds) for the browbone, a fuchsia/pink-toned
purple for the eyelid, a perfect purple for the crease, and a black shade as an
accent.
On the right side, we have a darker purple with kind of a brown-ish
undertone (if that makes sense) for the browbone, a deep plum colour for the
eyelid, a periwinkle shade for the crease, and another black for the accent. *
The finishes of this
palette are very mixed. The browbone shade on the left side is much more
shimmery than the right side, the eyelid and crease on the left side appear to
be matte while on the right side the crease shade is packed with shimmer, and
the accents are both black, but the left side appears to be matte and the right
side is again packed with shimmer.
The last palette that
I’ll be talking about today is called Downtown Browns.
Ironically enough,
this isn’t filled with browns after all, but it is still on the neutral side.
Starting one last
time with the left side (palette), the browbone shade is a nice beige, the eyelid shade
is a great dark-ish rosey-gold shade, the crease is a plummy shade of purple,
and the accent shade is coppery.
On the right side, we have a lighter toned
beige for the browbone, a deep purple for the eyelid, an even deeper purple for the crease, and a brown-ish green accent colour. *
There’s no question
that this palette is mixed up with a lot of shimmery colours, especially on the
right side. On the left side, there is the eyelid shade that reminds me of the
exact texture from the Wet n Wild Color Icon Comfort Zone palette left side
eyelid shade!
Now that we’ve got
that whole jibber-jabber of colour talk and swatches out of the way, let’s talk
about the quality of these.
Can you believe that
the swatches are just with one swipe of my finger through them? They have
AMAZING pigmentation, which is a HUGE factor for me. They also wear all day
with a primer and have the same vibrancy in the morning after I put them on as
when I get home in the afternoon and don’t take off my makeup until late night.
The price on these is amazing at a mere $6.99 per palette, which isn’t bad for
such a high-quality product from the drugstore. These also blend like a dream
and are super, super easy to use. I love these palette because you can create
endless amounts of looks with them and they make such a small dent in the
pocket of a person on a budget.
Now for the moment of
truth:
THE BOTTOM LINE
price: super affordable ($6.99)
quality: highly pigmented and have a smooth, silky texture, plus they last all day
availability: not that great unless you buy from the website
would I repurchase?: HECK YES!

Black Radiance is a
company that was established for people with darker complexions (obviously the eyeshadows
and lipsticks are not limited to darker skin tones because they can be tailored
to be used by any complexion) and is sold at (very few) Walmarts, Family
Dollar, and perhaps some other drugstores across the US. If you can’t find them
there, they also sell these palettes and their other products (face, lips, eyes,
etc.) at their website, here.
* Do not hold me accountable
for these shade descriptions because the truth is, I suck at placing colours on
these things!
So, what do y'all think? Would you purchase? Have you tried anything from this line, or is it completely foreign to you?
I hope you enjoyed
this fascinating review on these palettes that I now adore and I wish you a
very blessed day! <3
See you next time!
